The Transition:

First he has to break from the (egg) and observe others' leadership skills. Then he can wander around like a (caterpillar) learning how to become a leader. Once he gains some insight on what he must do to help people, he will use what he learned by taking a leadership position in an organization(chrysalis). After he has had enough experience, he can begin to teach others what he learned and inspire them to become a leader!

Teachers do more than just teach. They instill in their students the positivity that was instilled in them. They guide them in the direction best for them, help them, lead them, interact with them, admire them, and understand them!

 

The best feeling is satisfying two passions at once! <3 TEACHING 7th grade FRENCH.

I learned that one finds her true passion when she finds something that she can do without receiving a material or monetary gift. My incentive is seeing the smiles and high grades on my students' report card. :)

Saani EC: Reflection on Like Clockwork

ACAD/LEAD class was very different Wednesday; we had the opportunity to learn personal information about each other through the Like Clockwork activity. The main thought I had throughout class was that some of my peers' expectations from the others were too high. Some expected to like everyone, others expected to find best friends. Because of these high expectations, there was a lot of room for disappointment. I found out that my flaw is that I don't socialize enough with the group because I didn't expect to find friends. I don't think it is necessary that we be friends in order to support each as leaders. Living on the same floor gives us ample time to socialize, but I don't use it like I should; I'm friendly and I speak to everyone but I don't spend much time with them personally. I support the group from a distance, but maybe if I converse with everyone more often they will notice I care. I wish we all knew a way to come together and celebrate each other.

Blog 1: Dreams really do come true!

I admire Dr. King's courage to stand in front of a crowd as a minority knowing that he was putting his life at risk for the equality of every race. He's a perfect example of Finis Origine Pendet because he spoke for equality and integration. Even though, he died when the world was still not at peace, his dream, "we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands"(MLK) eventually came true in the end.

 

As a leader, one has to blend out from others by stepping out of his comfort zone and putting negative opinions behind him. Thanks to Dr. King' s dream, I can be a part of such a diverse group, Emerging Leaders, "...We will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together.." (MLK). My peers and I can interact together without certain people being dominate of others; we are all equal in position.

His speech was effective because racism has diminished since his death. He set up the opportunity for others to be courageous and advocate their beliefs. Diversity is personally important to me because it's interesting to learn the backgrounds of others' and share interests with individuals who have different values and traditions.

I'm thankful that I can have friends of different races and go in public with them without being punished or put in jail.
